History

Murray Controls’ emergence as an industry leader traces back to its humble beginnings in the early 1980’s, as William R. Murray, Contract Electrical Services in 1982. In 1985 the business was incorporated in North Carolina as Murray Industrial Controls, Inc., with a base of operations in Gastonia, NC and primarily served the Piedmont area of North Carolina. The focus of the business at the time was on PLC Programming, Control Panels, Instrumentation, and Electrical Design. Textile companies were among its major clients.

In 2004, following the death of William R. Murray, Sr., Murray Industrial Controls, Inc. relocated to a 3000 square feet facility in Anderson, South Carolina at the heart of the well-known I-85 business corridor. Business operations were taken over by Ernest R. Murray, P.E. and Rochelle W. Murray. The business re-incorporated in South Carolina as Murray Controls, Inc. in 2005 and that same year joined forces with Eastpoint Group from Halifax, Nova Scotia, marking the start of what would eventually be a significant growth and expansion of capabilities and strength. In 2006 Murray Controls moved to a new 15,000 square feet facility in Anderson, South Carolina and in 2007 added an additional 15,000 square feet facility in Williamston, South Carolina. In 2008 Murray Controls moved their base of operations to a new facility in Piedmont, South Carolina to accommodate continued growth.

In 2010 Murray Controls added Electrical Construction Services to the core offering and became licensed as an Electrical Contractor in South Carolina.
